A highly anticipated transfer, MarShawn Lloyd shares how his health and wellness routine and NIL partnerships are influencing him this season
MarShawn Lloyd, a running back and recent transfer to USC, is preparing for the spotlight. The Wilmington, Delaware, native was a 4-star prospect in high school and initially signed with South Carolina. Last season, he boasted 175 carries for 805 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 21 receptions for 220 yards. So far in just four games this season for the Trojans, Lloyd has already racked up over 400 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns.
A highly anticipated addition to one of the top college football teams in the country, Lloyd has been focusing on optimizing his daily routine, both physically and mentally.
“My day starts with prayer and getting everything I need for the day,” Lloyd told Athletech News. “I then go to school to get a workout as well as treatment. From there, I watch a little bit of film and get ready for my classes. Once my classes are over, I head back in to get treatment and once that is done, it is all time for practice. My routine has not changed since high school. I’m a pretty consistent guy.”
This consistency has paid off—and the Trojans are hoping that Lloyd can continue to make a big impact in the Pac-12.
As Lloyd prepared for the transition to the Pac-12 this season, the running back spent the off-season focusing on his nutrition.
“I am all about recovery things like Juven, cherry tart juice, protein shakes, and a lot of fluids,” he said. “Also putting the right things in my body like my meal prep called Good To Go!”
A Highly Impactful Partnership
In the dance between academics, athletics and wellbeing, USC’s partnership between Alto and House of Victory is playing a role. House of Victory is an alumni-led collective supporting Trojan student-athletes outside of board-approved necessary operating costs. Alto is the first employee-based, on-demand rideshare company. Through the partnership, athletes signed with House of Victory can receive an Alto membership and ride credit.

“House of Victory and NIL is the best thing that could happen to any college athlete. (They’re) very supportive in everyday needs,” Lloyd says. “For instance, it allows me to take care of my body, by being able to purchase things like my meal prep. House of Victory gives athletes the opportunity to also help out with their family.”
Student-athletes can now use Alto for rides with professional drivers, whether they’re heading to school, sports obligations or other pursuits. Additionally, as House of Victory extends NIL opportunities to over 60 athletes for their families to attend games, the Alto partnership ensures that athlete families receive airport curbside pickups and rides home after games.
With college football season upon us, time spent on and off the field is incredibly important for student-athletes. As he balances sports, school and family, all eyes will be on Lloyd as the Trojans compete for a Pac-12 title and potentially a spot in the College Football Playoff.
